Claudio Napolitano: Foreign Influence

Imagination is never in short supply for Claudio. Whether he is collaborating with a client or focusing on a personal project, he is always creating intriguing and conceptual imagery in his signature style.

His most recent personal series, entitled Foregin Influence, explores the positive impact immigration has had on the United States. Sparked by the political climate in this country and Claudio’s own determination to speak up as a US citizen, he photographed a series of stylized portraits that hone in on the faces and brands that have helped grow the US economy while challenging the stereotypical view of Native Americans by dressing his models in traditional Native American garb.

This detail is meant to show how far we have come as a country, post the 1830 Nativist movement, by revearing the traditional iconography of Native Americans and mixing it with the new Neo-Native faces our country so produly represents today. Claudio knew from the beginning that this was a sensitive topic, but he meticulously chose brands like Fiat that came to the aide of America during the financial crisis as well as models from a vareity of cultures to illustrate that America truly is about opportunity, diversity and inclusion for all.
