Welcome To The Truppe: BlueSky CGI

When a 3D animation of majestic fin whales was beautifully projected onto the Otis Booth building at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum's Centennial celebration, viewers were abuzz. That was the work of Blue Sky CGI, a creative retouching and multi-media company based in sunny California, and the newest addition to our roster.

Rick Chou and Lee Waters, veteran ad photographers and the masterminds behind Blue Sky, launched the company out of a mutual desire to marry their love of art and technology in an ever-changing industry embracing the digital age. As the two recall, “We were always very intrigued by how certain things are done. Not only for the visual aspect but the technology behind it.” Years later, the two and their crew of talented digital artists have mastered their craft and work with agencies and brands nationwide, including Lexus, Ford, Air New Zealand and more.

When not collaborating on commercial projects, the team keeps their skills sharp creating personal work like the twisted chopsticks and silverware fashioned into sculptures on view in a museum and the dancing microphone. As Rick tells of their personal work, “Its a little like traveling, exploring and playing with ideas.”

New ideas are plentiful at Blue Sky CGI and Rick and Lee pride themselves on being able to provide straightforward solutions to even the most complex creative ideas. Next on deck for this creative powerhouse is an animation for Castparts, so stay tuned for more eye candy coming soon.
