The retouchers and CGI artists at BlueSky CGI have a shared passion for cars. “We don’t like to get our hands all greasy,” explains Lee Waters, one of the founding partners, “but we like to make them sing.”

On a recent project for Subaru, the team took a beautiful static shot and turned it into an action symphony, full of energy and drama. As Lee tells us, this is not a super complicated process, but it does take extreme attention to detail and close collaboration.

The retouchers worked together with the Art Directors to make sure all of their feedback made it into the final shot. A lot of thought went into making the wheel spin flawless, the light just right and even the dust trail spot on. As Lee tells us of the completed print ad, “that perfect motion blur and mood change can add so much to an image, it’s really like magic.”

With Subaru complete, the team is now focusing on other projects in the hopper, so expect to hear about more magic made very soon.
