“Two girls for every boy". The Beach Boys and Surf City USA — what could be more evocative of beach lifestyle and those golden moments in the sun. Recently photographer Kevin Steele got to show those feelings, colors and locations when he collaborated with ad agency The Atkins Group and Huntington Beach, CA Tourism for their 2017 campaign.
The campaign focuses on the legendary Surf City USA and its classic beach lifestyle and world-renowned surf culture. Kevin is known for creating an authentic emotional connection with his beautiful cinematic scenes of people enjoying life. He honors beauty, and every assignment is an opportunity to create something extraordinary and fun. Says Creative Director James Howe, “I was looking for someone who had both an understanding of Huntington Beach and an ability to capture those moments that tell a story. He delivered that and more on the shoot, creating images that give you a sense of the lifestyle of HB, while creating an emotional connection to it. And he is also a nice guy and fun to work with."
From a sunset beach bonfire to family surf sessions, the beautiful beach locations were center stage for living in the moment in the original Surf City USA. As the song says, “They never roll the streets up, cause there’s always something goin’." Kevin’s adventures this past year have included images and motion produced for clients ranging from American Express, Delta Airlines and Bayer to travel and hospitality for resort clients across the Americas. Surf City here we come!
