Dennis Welsh: Baha Mar Resort Luxury Far from the Everyday

How do you ruin new sneakers in just four days?  You hang out with Dennis Welsh and team as they bring real-life, authentic energy to dazzling  imagery for the luxury, high-end resort shoot for Baha Mar Resort, Nassau, Bahamas.

Dennis loves to photograph people enjoying themselves in beautiful locations. Creative Director Mario Saccamango of GoConvergence creative agency was attracted to that honest interaction with the talent and the give-and-take work style.

Tired of the typical Euro-slick imagery in previous resort and travel campaigns, the agency wanted a friendlier, genuine and aspirational feel.  A level of creativity, approachability and authenticity had to be featured in the Baha Mar Resort campaign. Dennis delivered on all with an easy, open manner to create a world away from the everyday.

Even when shooting on location surrounded in breathtaking luxury, there can be challenges.  The resort wasn’t open yet, which is great in one way but tough in another.  Umbrellas, lounge chairs and tables still had to be unpacked, and trees had to be planted to show off this inviting destination of gentle Bahamian breezes.

Dennis used one Leica, two Sony and three Canon systems.  “The agency liked my work so much they said you take the lead and we’ll support you with video,” adds Dennis. Two disparate crews came together for a collaboration in paradise.

The campaign is already live online and in print.  It was one of the fastest, hardest, most exciting and rewarding shoots for Dennis.  It landed him a new client and, best of all, a new pair of sneakers!
