The set of the 2015 New Hampshire Tourism campaign felt more like a vacation than a video shoot. The agency wanted Dennis to show them how he saw New Hampshire so he could bring the energy and genuineness they saw in his book and reel to their project, and boy did he deliver.
Before the shoot even took place, Dennis and his team scoured the entire state to find the best locations to sum up such a magical place. From lakes to waterfalls, beaches to mountains, Dennis pulled out all the stops. As Digital Marketing Manager Grant Klene explains, the overarching theme was authenticity.
This is why they were thrilled Dennis wasn’t casting models or actors but real people he knew shared a love of the activities they were participating in. As Dennis tells us, “I am someone who would prefer turning an outdoors person into a model rather than the other way around. It just works better.” Grant agreed and added, “It immediately felt as if these people were just in their natural element; this is what they love doing.”
Honestly, if Dennis and his camera were not trailing the talent, you would never have known this was a planned four-day adventure to showcase all of the fun and activity the state has to offer. This is exactly the vibe Dennis was going for so he could capture the moments as they unfolded rather than orchestrate or plan them out to a “t”.
After days of capturing footage from their canoes and hanging off Jeeps, the final spot elevated New Hampshire Tourisms creative while 100% embodying their “Live Free” motto.
